Kelowna’s Brent Fikowski has finished on top of the podium at the CrossFit Championship in Dubai.
The three-day competition saw Fikowski finish as the number one male competitor, improving on his fourth-place finish at the event in 2018.
Fikowski competed in an exhausting 11 events over the four-day span, winning the seventh and eighth events, which included workouts such as rope climbs, box jumps, handstand push-ups and devil presses.
While the Kelowna athlete is no doubt excited on the first place finish, Fikowski also punched his ticket to the Reebok CrossFit Games next summer where the "fittest man on earth" will be crowned.
The 28-year-old, who trains at the Kelowna CrossFit gym, offered the quote “you don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your preparation,” in an Instagram post celebrating the win.
Britsh Columbia was well represented at this year's CrossFit Championship, with Patrick Vellner of Nanaimo finishing second place and Emily Rolfe of Kamloops placing sixth in the women's division.
