  • Kelowna Old Time Fiddlers set to host 22nd annual Fiddle Fest

The Kelowna Old Time Fiddlers will be hosting their annual Fiddle Fest on June 1 and 2 at Rutland Centennial Hall.

Fiddle Fest has been taking place in the Okanagan for more than 20 years, each year drawing a crowd of talented musicians of all ages from around the province for a weekend of concerts, workshops and competition.

This year the festival will welcome guest artists, Juno Award winner Ivonne Hernandez, and Grand Master Fiddle Champion, Daniel Gervais, to share their talent and wisdom with attendees.

The workshops will cover a wide variety of lessons including Celtic fiddling, step dancing basics, beginner lessons and back up fiddling.

Following a day of learning, local fiddlers, as well as some who have traveled from out of province, will compete in the annual Fiddle Competition. Top fiddlers of each category can collect up to $400 in winnings.

Participants can range in age from as young as 9-years-old or younger to musicians aged 65 and up. Following the ferocious battle, competitors will get to jam with the pros.
