"We really want people to think of us as a local spot," says Caity Latham, Food & Beverage Manager at Hyatt Place Kelowna. "A place to meet friends after work, grab a drink before dinner, host a small event or simply enjoy a beautiful summer evening."
The shift reflects a larger vision for the property. Rather than positioning the rooftop as an amenity reserved for hotel guests, the Hyatt team wants the community to feel like the space belongs to them, too. Part of that experience starts with the menu.
The Olive Way Social
Curated by Executive Chef Tabitha Vieira, the offerings are designed around sharing and conversation. Guests can gather around a table with the popular Triple Dip featuring whipped feta and confit tomato, garlic hummus and grilled aubergine dip, or enjoy lighter fare such as Ahi on the Rocks, a fresh take on seared yellowfin tuna with rhubarb gel and citrus vinaigrette. Those looking for something to pair with a glass of wine can opt for the Social Board, featuring local meats, cheeses and accompaniments sourced from British Columbia producers.
The beverage program follows the same philosophy. Signature cocktails such as the Martini, The Olive Way, crafted with olive oil fat-washed vodka, thyme and lemon, reflect the Mediterranean inspiration behind the space, while local wines and craft beers showcase some of the region's most recognizable producers. The focus on local extends beyond the drinks menu.
The Hyatt culinary team has made a conscious effort to source ingredients from regional suppliers whenever possible. Fish comes from Kelowna's Codfathers, while other menu components are selected from local and provincial producers, helping create a dining experience that feels distinctly Okanagan.

According to Catering Sales Manager Alexandra Jacques-Simard, the rooftop's intimate setting makes it ideal for everything from networking receptions and client appreciation events to birthday celebrations, bridal showers and team gatherings.
"It's a bit of a hidden gem," she explains. "People are often surprised when they come up here for the first time. It feels tucked away, almost like you've discovered something special."
