Kelowna Gymnastix is home to four all-around champions from this past weekend’s Ogopogo Invitational in West Kelowna.  

Shiphra Penner, Taylor Morrison, Summer Houston and Midori Schimmelmann all won their categories for the top spot over the weekend.

Penner, 12, won the Level 7 competition, finishing with second place on vault, uneven bars, and floor and also a bronze on the balance beam.  Team mate, Izabelle Coetzee earned first place on floor and third place on the vault in the level 7 category. Amelia Sturrock finished with a third place on vault.  

Morrison finished in first place overall after finishing first place on the floor exercise, and third place on vault and balance beam.  Team mate, Raedyn Furneaux finished with third place on both vault and floor. Furneaux also earned a special recognition award for the “most charismatic floor routine.”

Houston dominated the Level 5 competition, finishing first place on vault, beam and floor exercise.  She also earned a third place finish on the uneven bars. Team mate Talia Westwood also found her spot on the podium in the level 5 competition earning second place on the uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise for a third place finish over all.  Peyton Johal rounded out the podium sweep for Kelowna Gymnastix on the floor exercise, finishing in third place and fourth overall.

Schimmelmann won the level 4 category In the level 4 category, finishing frist place on vault and second place on bars. Makena Ivanitz finished second place on balance beam and third place on the floor exercise for a fourth place all around finish.  Shi-Ann Fairey earned a bronze medal on the uneven bars. Samantha Strench had a top finish of fourth place on floor exercise and Jodacy Schimmelmann had a top finish of seventh place on floor exercise.  

In the level 3 category, London Wright earned a silver medal on the uneven bars for a fourth overall finish, while London McDougall finished with a top placing of fifth on the uneven bars.  

Jillian McLaren, Olivia Caterino, Morgan Stibbs, Shiloh Bhatia, Amora Menezes, Kerah Joyce, Chantelle Lum and Emily Loverock all competed in the level 2 competition, where all eight athletes earned a silver overall for their performances.
