A Kelowna company received a specific name drop during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s daily press conference on Tuesday.
When speaking about advancing Canada’s ability to test for COVID-19, Trudeau said the federal government is funding four companies to research breakthrough solutions for rapid testing kits.
One of those companies is Metabolic Solutions, which is based in Kelowna.
The company is currently working on a prototype for a compact, cloud-connected saliva testing kit called MetX that can provide results within 10 minutes.
According to Metabolic Solutions website, current COVID-19 testing methods are expensive and require a centralized laboratory and qualified personnel.
On Tuesday, Canada announced 759 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the country's total to 92,406, with 7,395 people having died from the virus.
