ICYMI: The Kelowna Closet Clean Out is taking over the Laurel Packing House until 2 p.m. today.

The semi-annual event has been popular in Kelowna for the past four years, as it offers up great deals, unique finds and supports local charities. 

Attendees were lined up down the block waiting to enter the venue, with shopping bags in hand and eager smiles spread across their faces. 

The event welcomes 40+ vendors to sell their gently used, pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories at discounted prices.

"You can find some really unique pieces at this event, something that no everyone else is going to have," said Rosanne Ting-Mak Brown, creator of the Closet Clean Out.

Ting-Mak Brown said she got the idea four years ago after attending a children's clothing swap for her son and immediately thought it would be a great event for the ladies of Kelowna.

In addition to keeping wallets happy, the event also supports local charities. Proceeds from the $5 entry fee and the leftover clothing are donated to the local organization, Mamas For Mamas. 

Since the inaugural year of the event, the Closet Clean Out has donated over 10,000 lbs of clothing and around $6,000 to Mamas For Mamas.

Another huge draw to the event is the Paws It Forward table, where shoppers can fill their shopping bags with items for a flat rate of $20.

The event is carrying on until 2 p.m. this afternoon at the Packing House. Another will take place on May 6, 2018, at Westbank Lions Hall in West Kelowna.
