A Kamloops product is officially headed south of the border. 

The Everett Silvertips announced that they had signed forward prospect Brendan Hunchak to a WHL standard player agreement today. By signing the agreement, Hunchak is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the league. 

“Brendan caught our attention with an outstanding training camp and since that time has stepped up his game at the major midget level,” said Silvertips GM Garry Davidson. “He’s put in the hard work required to make this day possible and he’s earned an opportunity to make an impact within our forward group next season. His background in the game set him up with terrific hockey sense and work ethic, and we’re proud to welcome Brendan formally to the Silvertips family.”

The 17-year-old is fifth on the Thompson Blazers in scoring with five goals and 16 points in 32 games played this season.
