  • UPDATE: Wind warning ends for Kamloops and the Thompson

(Update – 1:45 pm): Environment Canada has officially ended the wind warning for Kamloops and the Thompson.

Originally, winds of up to 80 km/h were expected until the early evening.

(Original – 8:45 am):Kamloops residents should batten down the hatches as another wind warning has been issued in the Thompson.

According to Environment Canada, a cold front associated with a low-pressure centre over the central interior will sweep across the southern interior this morning. This means strong southerly winds have developed ahead of the front.

Winds are expected to shift to the west or northwest in the morning. Wind gusts could exceed 70 or 80 km/h in some parts of the Thompson.

Residents can expect the winds to die down at some point in the early evening.
