  • Kamloops Blazers split weekend series with Victoria

The Kamloops Blazers were in action this weekend, playing two road games in Victoria.

Kamloops would split the two-game series with the Royals, earning head coach Shaun Clouston his 400th career win in the process.

In game one, Victoria scored the first goal just three minutes in. Ryan Hughes waited until the second to answer for the Blazers. The game-winner was scored by Inaki Baragano midway through the third period. Dylan Garand got the start once again, making 29 saves on 30 shots in the process.

Game two was Victoria's from the get-go as they notched two past Garand in the first period. Zane Franklin spoiled Shane Farkas' shutout bid in the third, but it was too little too late as Victoria won 2-1. Garand had a bit of a tough night, making only 20 saves on 22 shots. He was outmatched by Farkas who stopped 34 of 35 shots.

Up next, the Blazers travel to Everett to take on the Silvertips this Saturday. Puck drop is at 7:05 pm.

With the two games, Kamloops sits at 9-5, remaining atop the BC Division standings.
