There will be no judicial recount of the results from Kelowna’s municipal election on Oct. 15.

An application to do so that was put forward by council candidate Sacheen Collecutt was denied by the Provincial Court on Thursday.

The City of Kelowna said Collecutt’s application “was based on claims about the vote tabulator units and voting procedures.”

However, a judge found that her application for a recount did not meet requirements laid out by the Local Government Act.

Reasons for the rejection included not providing adequate notice of the application, submitting documents later than required and concerns with some of the content in the affidavits submitted by Collecutt.

“We are confident in our procedures, election experience and the reported results,” said Laura Bentley, chief election officer.

Kelowna’s new council, including incoming mayor Tom Dyas, will be sworn in at their inaugural meeting at 7 pm on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

The public is welcome to attend.

Council’s first regular meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, with their first public hearing to follow the next day.
