Tyson Matthew Wokoeck
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I am originally from Edmonton, Alta. but have resided in the Kelowna area for about eight years.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife, friends and immediate family members. I enjoy spending time with all of them because I have a deep connection with each and every person. We always have fun and are making memories that will last a lifetime. My wife and I are best friends and we live life to the fullest.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Thailand, I have always wanted to go backpacking and explore the culture and food that Thailand has to offer.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Macdermott’s because the clothing they sell is quality and one of a kind. It is nice to see a family run company in which the family members work in their store.
What is your favourite activity?
Boating/Wake Surfing
If you had to choose: pizza, tacos, or burgers?
Burgers all the way!
What is a hidden gem you enjoy in the Okanagan?
Some of the smaller wineries.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
My pants split down my legs and I have very bright boxers on and was no were close to home or a store.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Finding out that my wife and I are expecting triplets. It has really changed my perspective on life and giving our lives a whole new meaning.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
The summers at my parents cabin where my dad would take us out boating. I remember the big family bbq’s and sleepovers with friends.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
During the Christmas season, I like to purchase gift cards from Mad mango and give them out to people in the downtown core who are in need of warm meals.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Equality for people everywhere regardless of their sexual orientation or their nationality.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Boating
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Sparkling Hills
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Honing in on what our communities are in need of. Striving for an increase low-income housing and more mental health based supports for children transitioning out of care.
If you were granted one wish for work or in life, what would it be?
That I never had to get part of my foot amputated.

I am missing part of my foot.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Team Innovation and Thorcorp
What does your business do?
Team innovation is my real estate team where our focus is exceeding the needs of our clients. Thorcorp is my construction company that renovates homes from top to bottom. We also are in the process of purchasing a concrete plant that will produce retaining walls, rock walls etc. Thorcorp also offers fire resistant spray foam to brand new builds and developments as well as homes that we renovate. We ensure they are up to code.

Employment in my community.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
I am a workaholic. So it is a struggle to find a balance between my work and my home life.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Always minor changes but I am happy where I’m at.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To preserve our local companies and support one another. Wea re all connected in some way and when able should be utilizing the supports within our own community. We all have mouths to feed and families to support.
