What do you always find yourself saying?
Eat your breakfast / eat your lunch / eat your dinner. There’s a lot of repetition as a parent.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
Jimmy Fallon. Does there really need to be an explanation? Funniest person ever!
If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
A Grammy award. It would validate the performances I put on in my living room and make them not so pathetic.
If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
Jesus. Seeing his love in action first hand would be incredible, because reading about it is amazing in itself.
Who inspires you?
My husband, my daughter, and my parents. They are all the greatest people.
What are three things on your bucket list?
1) Write a bucket list! 2) Go to Ireland and have a real Guinness. 3) Surprise my hubby with tickets to Conan O’Brien… I guess I just blew that surprise

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
My daughter’s wedding. Even thinking about it now I get choked up! I’ll be a mess that day for sure.
What are you passionate about?
My faith and my family.
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
My wedding day, because that lead to the day our daughter was born. Hard to beat that!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Owing my own business.
Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
Friday night Sushi and a movie seem to be a tradition in our house. We order from Maki Sushi or Ozeki’s on Lakeshore. They’re both really good and they deliver! How amazing is that?! When we have a date night, we often go to Joeys. Fish Tacos and a Super Sonic Gin and Tonic – heck yes!!
What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
Keloha was great! Bring it back! Good music, good times. I love Parks Alive as well. Anything music related and I’m there.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Shimmer + Gloss
What does your business/organization do?
I am a free-lance makeup artist. I travel to my clients for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, and graduations. I also provide makeup lessons in the comfort of your own home. It’s a great thing to do with your friends or family. I help my clients edit their makeup bags, show them what they do and don’t need and show them how to apply their makeup for them personally. So often women go into a store and end up buying a ton of makeup they’ll never use because they don’t know how to use it. I show women how to use what they have to achieve a variety of looks. It’s a fun job!

What is your mission?
To make my clients feel beautiful. Of course I want to enhance each woman’s physical beauty, but when a woman feels beautiful, that’s when she really shines.
If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
Many, many years of happy clients would be perfect to me.
Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
I was born and raised in the beautiful Okanagan and I absolutely love it here. So to be here and still going strong would be great!
Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
I’m always in awe of Mary Phillips work. Somehow she makes Jennifer Lopez even more stunning than she already is!
What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Honesty, commitment, and loyalty.
What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Thank you to everyone who supports my work, who refers me to their clients, friends and family, and those whose kind words push me to be better each year. Without them I’d have nothing!
How does your business/organization impact the community?
I help women feel good about themselves, and when that happens they impact others around them in a positive way. It’s a win, win situation for the community!
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
A top makeup artist that sought out small makeup businesses to invest in and grow would be very convenient, and an expert therapist would be great too – trapped in an elevator = worst nightmare!
If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
I’d move it about 2,300 km’s south where winter doesn’t really exist.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
We have the best of everything here! Wine country, lakes and beaches, ski hills (for those who like that kind of thing). It’s hard to beat this place!
