What is your name?
Christine Banford
What do you always find yourself saying?
Love it!
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My son Devon. I know it sounds corny but we don't get to spend a lot of time together and I find when I get to spend one on one time with him I learn so much more about him and I like what I learn.
If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
Sports women of the year! I am in awe of elite athletes and I don't come close to being one, but I can sure appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into being one.
If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose?
Amelia Earhart. She was a woman ahead of her time. I would like to see what a day in her world was like.
Who inspires you?
The children and families I have had met through the Cops for Kids organization. I get to meet many of the families when I take part in the Cops for Kids 10 day fundraising cycling ride and they make me cry every time I hear their stories.
What are three things on your bucket list?
To return to Scotland to visit family I haven't seen in many years
To cycle across Canada
To pay off my boys mortgages (hopefully before I kick the bucket).
If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
ALL MINE
If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
I don't think I want to see a day in my future. It would change everything.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about a lot of things, my family, cycling, travelling, doing a good job, volunteering, coaching, Cops for Kids, my dogs, and staying fit.
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
That is a hard question; I have been fortunate and had a lot of good days. Not just one stands out and the majority of the good ones involve my family.
Where is your favourite place to dine in your city?
Duffy's Pub. Our neighborhood pub. They have the best wings.
What is your favourite activity or event in your city?
This city has so many great activities and events. I have to say the mountain biking is my favourite activity and Canada Day in the park my favourite event.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Royal Lepage Westwin Real Estate Agent / Kamloops Century Ride supporting Cops for Kids
What does your business/organization do?
I love helping clients with the sell or purchase of a home / Organize a 100 Km road bike ride to raise funds for Cops for Kids
Where can people find you or your business online?
christinebanford.com
Where can people find your business on Facebook?
C.Banfords Real Estate Kamloops
What is your Twitter account?
@RLPBanford / @kamloopscentury
What is your mission?
To succeed.
If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
Real estate awards are all geared to how much money you make, it doesn't reflect how well you interact with your clients, so to receive thank you notes and referrals is what I will work to achieve.
Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
I would like to be busy and successful in my real estate career and for the Kamloops Century Ride I hope it becomes one of the most do rides in the interior.
What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
It seems that Realtors are always portrayed as unethical and untrustworthy, but I think 99.9 per cent of us are hardworking, friendly and professional. Unfortunately the only ones you hear about are the .1 per cent that have been deceitful and greedy. I know that I work hard and am honest in my dealings with clients. I am pretty much myself so what you see is what you get.
What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
I don't have any employees, but I have a lot of friends and friends of friends who have helped put the Kamloops Century Ride together and to them I am very grateful. Couldn't do it without them. Thank you!!
How does your business/organization impact the community?
The Kamloops Century Ride is showcasing our city and also some of the local businesses that sponsor the ride.
What makes you successful? Tell us about it.
Some would say that I am not successful, I don't have any huge awards for my work, I am not rich, I don't have anyone working for me, but I am successful! I have a job a love, and supportive husband, two boys I love, a great daughter in law, and a wonderful adorable grand-daughter. How rich is that!!!
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
The obvious a real estate investor, investor in stocks, and a start-up company investor I'd ask them how…
If I could change one thing about the city you live in, it would be:
I love living in Kamloops, it has so much to offer. The only thing that I would like to see are more bike paths, lanes, and connections to make road cycling safer in Kamloops.
What do you think makes your city great?
Where do I start? The outdoor activities in the city or in the surrounding area are endless. The different activities you can join. The different opportunities to play on the river or area lakes. The Arts and Culture Events and organizations. I have to give kudos to the City Council even if I don't agree with them all the time; they are trying to do what’s best for all of us and it is a hard job. Oh and the weather. I love the hot summers and the snow in the winter. Beats rain any day!
My nomination for the In Focus spotlight is:
Karrie-Ann McLean
