Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • In Focus | Bri Stein

Meet Bri, Kelowna has been here stomping grounds for the past 26 years. You can find her beautifying the faces of the Okanagan, one bride at a time.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I love spending time with my boyfriend, he is my rock. He supports everything I do. He also keeps me calm when I have too much on my plate. He makes me laugh and truly cares for me unconditionally. I am so lucky to have him in my life.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
My favourite local store is not a store at all, it's the Farmers and Crafters Market! I love being able to shop everything local all in one place!

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Quirky

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
If I could go anywhere in the world right at this moment I would probably go anywhere!!!! I, unfortunately, haven't traveled much and I'm open to anything really!!

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
My favourite activity in Kelowna is walking the boardwalk along the lake in on a sunny evening.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer and fundraise for my favourite charity called "Little Warriors" which is a national, charitable organization based in Canada committed to the awareness, prevention, and treatment of child sexual abuse.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would love for "hate" to be abolished completely!

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am an artist! I can paint, draw and create almost anything I put my mind to!

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
    Facebook, Website and Instagram.

What is the name of your business/organization?
    Bri Stein Artistry

Why did you get into/start this business?
I have wanted to be a makeup artist since I was about 7 years old, I knew I was born to do it! I always was an artist, so becoming a makeup artist came naturally to me. I have always been fascinated and inspired by colours. It just made sense to me to apply them to faces instead of a canvas.

What is the goal of your business?
The biggest goal for my business is to inspire others. I want to make people feel absolutely amazing about themselves. When you look good, you feel good. I want to introduce cosmetics and makeup to people in a simplified manner that makes sense so that they can feel beautiful and confident.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
The biggest struggle about being an entrepreneur is balancing work and life. Anyone who has their own business can probably relate, but we do not shut off. We are always on high alert 24/7 and it’s incredibly hard to take time off for ourselves as we strive to be responsive and reliable to our customers and clients.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would definitely do things the same way that I did, I truly believe that each and every action resulted in the success that I have had as a business owner today.

What do you always find yourself saying?
    “Perfect!”

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
My best piece of life advice is to take a step back and be grateful for the people who have helped you in your journey as an entrepreneur. Never take those people for granted because without their support you wouldn’t be where you are today.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would likely choose to spend the day with Pat McGrath, a world-renowned makeup artist who is changing the industry.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I think it is so incredible to shop at local businesses because these people are just like you and I. They are deep-rooted in the community and need your support. You are not supporting a man or woman in a tall office planning their next voyage around the world, you are supporting a mom or dad as they enroll their children in soccer. You’re helping a single woman to buy her own home. You’re helping a man build his retirement savings. You’re keeping your money local which in turn will help our economy and create new jobs. Support Local!

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is that I have had the opportunity to work with companies such as Swimco, Lululemon and ET Canada create beautiful live and print imagery that is seen worldwide.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
I am shouting out to Allie of Lock Love Design (local) She makes my favourite kimonos and you can find her at the farmers market!!!

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
    Allie of Lock Love Design
