  • UPDATE: Hwy 1 cleared east of Revelstoke following vehicle incident

    (UPDATE: 5:30 p.m.) – Hwy 1 has been fully reopened for travel after a vehicle incident closed it down east of Revelstoke on Saturday. 

    Drive BC confirmed the road was cleared, but has advised that heavy delays are to be expected on the congested roadway. 

    According to Drive BC, an 8-km lineup has developed as a result of the incident which occurred Saturday morning. 

    "While the incident has cleared, do expect heavy delays while the volume of traffic is processed.

    They also advised drivers to watch for crews during their journey through the affected area.

    Drive BC is reporting that the Trans Canada Highway has been closed this morning due to a vehicle incident. 

    The road is closed in both directions 29 km east of Revelstoke. The vehicle incident is at Woolsey Creek Forest Service Road, between the East Boundary of Mount Revelstoke National Park and the Albert Canyon Chain up Area. 

    A detour is not available and the estimated time of reopening is 3 p.m.
