UPDATE: Hwy 1 reopened following avalanche control operations

(UPDATE: 3:50 p.m.) – Highway 1 has been cleared for travel following avalanche control work being conducted between Revelstoke and Golden.

Drive BC said they route was closed between Greely Road and Jumping Creek Road, but has since finished their work in the immediate area.

(Original story: 1:15 p.m.) – Highway 1 is closed this afternoon between Revelstoke and Golden.

Drive BC says that the highway is closed for avalanche control work between Greely Rd. and Jumping Creek Rd.

The closure is 4 km east of Revelstoke. A detour is not available. The next update is expected at 2 p.m.
