  • How to stay active at home

Are you sitting at home itching to get your move on?

Well, worry not because we have compiled a list of things you can do to stay active form the comfort of your own home.

    1. Follow along with a live stream yoga class

Many local yoga studios are currently offering live streams of their Yoga classes right from their Instagram channels.

Simply roll out your mat in your living room and follow along with your local instructor.

Support them by purchasing a gift card for future classes when their studios re-open.

    2. Build your own at-home gym.

You might not know it but there are many items in your home that can also be used as gym equipment!

    Milk Jugs

Use those two empty milk jugs you might have laying around, fill them with sand or water and viola, you have a pair of weights.

One full gallon-sized jug of milk weighs about 8.5 pounds, which is perfect for giving your arms a good workout.

    Laundry Detergent Bottles

These are perfect to use as dumbells, a 72-ounce bottle is about the equivalent of 5 pounds.

    A Chair

No, the chair is not only to sit on, but it is also actually a very convenient tool to use to get a full-body workout.

Try Tricep Dips to tone your arms, stand in front of the chair and step upon it by alternating legs every set, you can also stand in front of your chair with your back to the chair then slowly lower yourself down until your legs form a 90-degree angle, and place your arms behind you, gripping the edge of the chair’s seat with your hands.

    Paper Plates

Instead of going out to purchase glider disks, paper plates mimic a similar effect when used on smooth surfaces.

You can increase the difficulty of lunges by placing your front foot on a paper plate before doing a forward lunge.

Place two paper plates on your back legs and practise your mountain climbers on the spot.

    A Backpack

Fill a backpack with books, all those canned goods you have bought or any heavy objects you have laying around.

Wear the backpack while doing squats or walking up and down the stairs multiple times.

You can even take the backpack off and grasp the straps to perform curls, shoulder presses, or makeshift kettlebell swings.

    3. Dance

Turn on your favourite playlist and spend 30 minutes to 1 hour simply dancing away.

It's a great way to add exercise to your day while also providing you with a positive distraction as you sing along to your favourite tunes.

    4. Download a fitness app
