Highway 97 Closed in Both Directions at Falkland

UPDATE (10am): A vehicle recovery is underway at Falkland and the highway has been fully reopened. Motorists can still expect delays in the area.

Original Story:

Highway 97 at Falkland is closed in both directions because of a downed hydro line.

According to DriveBC, the line came down around 7:30 a.m. and a detour is available for motorists on Church Hill Road, Ponderosa Road, and Chase Falkland Road. There is no estimated time of opening as an assessment is in progress.

It is currently unknown why the lines came down or if a vehicle was involved. We will update readers with more information as it becomes available.
