April showers have made way for some real spring temperatures in Kamloops.
This week will bring some of the warmest weather we’ve seen so far in 2018, with the mercury getting up to 26°C by Friday — well above the average 18°C high for this time of year.
Keep your shades handy as Environment Canada is calling for a whole lot of sunshine all week long.
"Consistently we’ve been below normal for most of the spring and that’s really changing here with the change of patterns and we are going to see temperatures that are really going to bounce back into above normal," said Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan.
"A big ridge of high pressure is going to open up the skies and we are going to have quite a bit of sun with a very minor blip of clouds on Tuesday. But the rest of the week, all the way through to probably Saturday and beyond, temperatures hitting mid 25s maybe even 26 on Friday."
"That’s quite a departure, about eight degrees above normal for this time of year so it’s going to feel quite tropical all of a sudden. In a matter of a couple days you go from below normal to well above normal."
Today will be sunny with a high of 21°C, Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24°C and Wednesday will bring more sun with a high of 22°C.
It’s looking even better heading into the weekend, with a high of 25°C on Thursday and 26°C on Friday. A mix of sun and cloud is expected on Saturday, with a high of 24°C, and Sunday will bring a high of 21°C.
