  • Grizzlies extend series lead with game 2 win over Chiefs

It’s certainly not the start to the series that the Kelowna Chiefs and their fans expected.

After dropping a hard fought game one to the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Tuesday, Kelowna needed a win on Wednesday to earn a home-ice split.

The Chiefs didn’t get the start they wanted, however, as Kaeden Patrick opened the scoring for Revelstoke just over two minutes into the game.

After Dylan Kent equalized for Kelowna, Patrick scored his second of the period to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes.

The game one hero, Ryan Pereverzoff, extended that lead to 3-1 in the second but the Chiefs quickly came storming back.

Zach Erhardt scored a powerplay goal just 44 seconds later and Devin Sutton found the back of the net less than a minute after that, tying the game at three.

That would be the score entering the final frame, but the Grizzlies would find a way to pull ahead thanks to a pair of tallies from Carter Anderson.

Kelowna would pull Braeden Mitchell, who replaced starter Shane Zilka after the Grizzlies third goal, but only Revelstoke would light the lamp with the net empty.

The Grizzlies now hold a 2-0 series lead as the two teams head to Revelstoke for games three and four on Friday and Saturday.
