There are plenty of choices for registered voters to make when it comes to choosing six councillors on Penticton Council heading into Saturday’s municipal election.

NowMedia reached out to all 24 candidates running to claim one of the six spots on Penticton Council. Many of the candidates did not respond, but the majority did.

We asked all candidates the same questions.

We’ve decided to post their answers in alphabetical order.

These are the responses from Glenn Clark.

What do you feel is the most pressing issue facing the City of Penticton should you be elected to Council after the Oct. 20 general election?

“The homeless issue combined with drug addicts on the street is of concern but it’s not going away overnight. What is most important is sound, balanced decision making, not knee jerk reactions or window dressing problems by shifting them from one location to another.”

What do you feel are your greatest assets as someone running for elected office?

“I bring a long history of living, working and raising a family in Penticton and have witnessed numerous Council mistakes. I bring a balanced approach without a pre-established agenda.”

Can you please list some of the priorities you believe the new Council should make a priority in the first six months following the election?

“We need to address housing, homelessness, infrastructure neglect and we don’t need any more ice rinks? I’m also concerned about how the city is going to to deal with marijuana legalization, support for arts and culture and of course addressing floods and wildfires.”

What is, in your opinion, the best thing about calling Penticton home?

“It’s not Kelowna. We are not trying to be a big city, but all of the residents here in Penticton get to to enjoy the lifestyle that our natural amenities offer.”

What are some of the reasons Penticton will be a better City to live in over the next four years?

“Because I hope to be part of the Council that will focus on addressing the key issues I’ve already mentioned and hopefully we will stop making million dollar blunders like neglecting our infrastructure.”
