And, in the blink of an eye, September has arrived. This year summer seemed to come and go without us even noticing. Our big plans to get away, to enjoy the lake and to bask in the summer heat didn’t quite get accomplished. Even though some of us didn’t get the opportunity to relish in all that summer has to offer, we can now look forward to what fall has in store! And, we’re not talking about Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and blanket scarves.
With back to school, back to reality, back to colder weather thoughts consuming our minds, there is something to look forward to, and that’s fall camping! Being less busy, with fewer tourists, escaping into the woods or down that back road never seemed more appealing than it does right now!

Herald Provincial Park
Located just outside of Salmon Arm and a two-hour drive from Kelowna, Herald Provincial Park is a popular campsite that has many fun things to do. Not only is Herald Provincial Park located on the beautiful shores of Shuswap Lake, but it also neighbors nearby waterfalls, Margaret Falls. Full of lots of places to hike, walk and explore, Herald’s Park is surrounded by beaches and forests.
Bring a camper, trailer or tent and enjoy provided drinking water, picnic areas, flush toilets, and showers. You can canoe, bike, fish, hike, swim, ski, boat, you name it. Herald’s Park is a great place for the whole family, or for a weekend getaway.
E. C. Manning Provincial Park

Located two hours and 45 minutes from Kelowna, in the Cascade Mountains, is E.C Manning Provincial Park. E.C. Manning Park has drive-in campgrounds open from May to October 14, with many walking and hiking trails. It’s easy to get to and is full of outdoor activities to experience. From 15 minute hikes to six-day hikes, it’s full of adventure out in the back woods. With canoeing, biking, fishing, hiking, swimming and horseback riding, this park is well worth the drive to escape into nature.

Echo Lake Resort

If the clear turquoise waters aren’t enough to capture your attention, Echo Lake’s outdoor adventures sure will. Whether you like to canoe, fish, swim, or boat, your days will be filled with relaxing activities as you enjoy the serene simplicity of this lake. There are seven cabins to choose from, with amenities for cooking and eating, along with a barbecue, a private dock and depending on the year, a private fire pit. For a closer to home expedition, Postill Lake is the break from reality that you need. A 40-minute drive from downtown Kelowna, near Ellison, Postill Lake is fun for the whole family. With fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, and pet-friendly campsites it’s an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With cabins, cottages, lodges and log cabins for rent, your family won’t have to worry about packing too much which makes for an easy get-out-of-town-and-go weekend. Spend the day exploring nature trails, mountain biking or cast a line on the water and really disconnect from the tech world and out into nature instead.
Fintry Provincial Park
A part of the Okanagan’s history is Fintry Provincial Park. Fintry was founded in 1908 by a Scottish settler, Captain James Cameron Dun-Waters, who developed the land into a productive farm and impressive estate. Today the Fintry Estate and manor house still stands and alongside that is Shorts Creek, boat launches, waterfalls, deep pools and two kilometers of waterfront property. Camp, swim, fish, canoe or kayak, you name it, Fintry Provincial Park offers it all. With drinking water available, it is the perfect place to learn about local heritage and enjoy the great outdoors.
