  • Furever Home Finder: Owen

    About Owen

Hi! My name is Owen and I’m looking for my furever home.

As so often happens to dogs in the Middle East where I was born, my mother, along with all of her newborn puppies, was dumped on the street by her owner and left to fend for herself.

I don’t know what happened to mom and I barely even got to know my siblings, because without our mother to feed us, all of them died. I am the only one of my litter that survived.

As a cute little puppy I was taken in by some people, but once I grew up and became a large dog my family no longer wanted me so they gave me away.

My new family was kinder to me, but their neighbours gave them trouble so they moved me to the roof where I was desperately lonely. I became depressed and didn’t eat well.

Thankfully, a family in Canada adopted me and I was brought to Victoria to live with them.

Sadly, it is not working out here so I have to find a new home. I am so tired of being sent away and I long to find my real forever home where I will be accepted and loved.

    Breed

    Labrador mix

    3-years-old

    Personality

Once I get to know you I am a very sweet and loving boy. I especially enjoy playing with other dogs and would love to share my home with one. I’ve never met a cat before, so I’m not sure how I feel about them!

My favourite things are walks, car rides, treats and snuggles with my people. Trips to the dog park are a great way for me to burn off excess energy.  I am a high energy dog who needs an active home where we can go on long walks and hikes together. I am pretty good on leash and have good recall at the park. I am house trained and not destructive (unless you leave your fuzzy slippers lying around!).

    Suitability

My ideal home would be in a quiet suburban area with an active person or couple with no young children. I would enjoy another dog to play with or the opportunity for frequent trips to a local dog park. A fenced yard to race around in is also important to me.

Sometimes when I get overly excited I can become a little bit nippy. While I currently live with a couple of children, their exuberance can wind me up so I would do best in a quiet, adult only home.

Because I am very protective of my home and family and will growl and bark at strangers it is best if my adopters aren’t big on entertaining. But you will never have to worry about intruders – I will always let you know if someone I don’t know is in our house.

You will not find a more devoted, loyal, snuggly and engaging companion than me.

If you think we would be a good match, please reach out to Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
