About Hero!

Hi! My name is Hero and i’m a collie/persian mastiff. As you can see, I have had a difficult life so far, but my guardians and I are hoping to turn it around!

A cruel person in the Middle Eastern country where I was born shot me with buckshot and I lost one of my eyes. Luckily I was rescued and I’m all healed now. My caretakers said that the surgery to remove all the buckshot is too risky so I will have to live with the scars from that day (The vet believes that Hero is not in any pain).

Since arriving in Vancouver, I have demonstrated just how intelligent I am! I already know some basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. I have also discovered the joys of car rides and tummy rubs! I also love to chase things. My guardians say that I have a high prey drive, and I guess that isn’t polite behaviour for a city dog because it gets me in trouble.

The other thing that I am having trouble with is this whole business of walking nicely attached to a leash while strange dogs pass by me. It worries me and I tend to react badly when I feel nervous.

Because of my nervous habits, my guardians believe that I would be much happier in a quiet rural home or on an acreage where I don’t have to be taken out for leash walks near small creatures and all those other strange dogs. I am still new to Canada and I’m sure I’ll get used to all these new things eventually!

Please help me find a home where I can live peacefully and I can be the only dog in your life! I just want to play with my stuffies and get my belly rubbed!

I have been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. My adoption fee it $500 CAD.
