Georgia is looking for a furever home!

This 2-year-old Old English Sheepdog is currently searching for a loving family. Georgia is at the South Okanagan SPCA, waiting to meet you!

Coming from unfortunate circumstances where she spent her entire life on a chain, Georgia has shown remarkable resilience and a kind soul with a sensitive heart. She still gets nervous in new situations, so she will require positive reinforcement from her family. 

She does seem to prefer the companionship of male dogs, and is initially unsure around other females.

The SPCA says her journey towards confidence has been commendable, progressing from not allowing staff within five feet of her to embracing gentle pets, light grooming, and enjoying short walks.

Georgia still has a long way to go, so potential adopters should have experience working with fearfulness in dogs, and be prepared to put in a great deal of behavioural work. 

Georgia is easily startled by loud sudden noises or movements so for this reason she should go to an adult-only home. Despite her initial shyness, Georgia has not displayed aggression towards people. 

Georgia’s transformation while at the shelter demonstrates her capacity for trust and the potential for a deep bond with a patient and understanding owner. 

Potential adopters should be prepared to invest time and effort into building a relationship with Georgia, allowing her to continue to flourish.

Georgia is still waiting to be spayed, so is available for foster-to-adopt in the South Okanagan area. 

Any interested applicants will be required to meet Georgia at the shelter several times.
