A frustrated evacuee is asking drivers to steer clear of McCulloch Road while people are trying to rescue animals from their homes.

"We're asking people to stay off of McCulloch Road – just the dirt portion going up there," said Johnston. "That's the only way in and out for evacuees trying to get animals out and there's so many people up there just driving like total idiots."

They were rescuing their cats on Friday afternoon and were having difficult getting through with the amount of trucks driving out to the area for recreational purposes.

"We almost got ran off the road three different times by people that are obviously up there playing."

Johnston's asking people looking to go fishing, camping or mountain biking to find another place to play until the fire clears and evacuees are able to go home.

"It's just disrespectful. People are trying to get horses and dogs and cats out of there," said Johnston. "It's a bad road to begin with, never mind 1,100 people trying to get out of there."

In the meantime, Johnston along with his mom, dad and sister are doing fine.

"We're all taken care of – we're staying with friends and the evacuation service has taken care of us," he said.

But his urgent message to the public is that there are still horses and other livestock that need to get out.

"It would be great if people would show some respect and stay off the road or just drive respectfully."
