  • Freezing rain warning issued for Prince George

Prince George residents should prepare for the worst with the sudden rain that has hit the city.

According to Environment Canada, a freezing rain warning has been issued for the city. Freezing rain is expected to occur because of an approaching warm front coming across the BC Interior today.

"The warm air aloft combined with below zero temperatures at the surface will result in periods of freezing rain late this morning," wrote Environment Canada. "The freezing rain is expected to change to rain this afternoon as temperatures rise above zero."

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas."

Freezing rain warning are always issued when rain falls in sub-zero temperatures, creating icy surfaces and build-ups.
