Did someone say free?

Yup. And this is the kind of free we like — inspiring, legendary, and long-standing.

The Bateman Foundation has announced that children and teens (under 18-years-old) receive will complimentary admission to The Bateman Gallery downtown until the end of August.

Right now you can catch the new exhibition, Robert Bateman: Heart & Home, as well as the gallery's permanent exhibition, The World of Robert Bateman. 

“The new exhibition showcases Bateman’s artwork in many forms meant to be lasting gifts for his family and friends,” says Andrea Terrón, Bateman Foundation Head of Galleries and Exhibitions.

“We need to share this beautiful message and show the many ways we can express our family connections, legacy and values we leave with our loved ones.”

Legendary Canadian artist Robert Bateman is known for his realistic artwork that displays his deep love of nature and wildlife. His mission, since becoming a full-time artist in the 1970s was to link art and nature in a profound way. Today, Bateman is 92 and still active in art.

“You’ll see that each gift is personalized while conveying the importance of nature — the unwavering story that Bateman continues to tell his children and grandchildren.”

Victoria is home to the magnificent Bateman Gallery right on the waters of the Inner Harbour. It attracts over 20,000 visitors and fans each year.

Free admission for kids and teens begins now, and wraps up August 31st, right before school kicks in.

“We are excited to make our gallery more accessible to youth and families. We hope experiencing the artwork leaves a lasting impression that will inspire them to pay closer attention to relationships with our loved ones and our environment.”
