  • Former Kamloops Blazer inducted into BC Sports Hall of Fame

A former Kamloops Blazer had himself a milestone day.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame announced this morning that Robin Bawa would be inducted as a "Pioneer" in the 2020 class.

Bawa played five seasons of WHL hockey. He first skated with the Kamloops Junior Oilers, then went to the New West Minister Bruins, and finished his junior career with the newly named Blazers.

The 53-year-old was the first South-Asian player to suit up in an NHL game for the Washington Capitals in 1989. His 12-year pro career included a 61 NHL games and a brief stint with the Vancouver Canucks.

    Congrats Robin!
