Chimera Theatre is launching the Hydra Performing Arts Festival in Kamloops this spring and has announced its main stage lineup for the first-ever showcase.
The festival will take place at the Actors Workshop Theatre at Thompson Rivers University from May 10 to May 19. Performances will be a collection of works from local playwrights and performing artists.
On the main stage in 2018 will be:
- Bike Thief – JEAV Productions
- Buferno – Infernol Art Productions
- Comedy and Conjuring – Clinton W. Gray
- Deep in Roots – Kira Haug and Graham How
- Fat Chick Seeks: tales of internet dating – Juli Harland
- Magic Cafe – Devon More Music
- I Eat My Toast With A Knife And Fork – Peter Navratil
- It All Started With a Dick Pic – A Stripsicle by CoCo Creme Burlesque
- Perseus & Andromeda – JAMM Theatre
- Spitting Slag – The Other Theatre Company
- This is Where I stay – TRUDAT Club
- Two Thirty / The Murder of Arthur Wong – The Lyre Theatre
Each main stage show will run twice during the festival. In addition to shows on the main stage, the festival boasts parties, meet and greets, other live performances and an awards gala.
The full schedule will be released in the coming months. Tickets will be available per show or in packages.
Up next for Chimera Theatre is its production of Frankenstein, adapted by artistic director Andrew Cooper. It runs Feb. 28 to March 3 at the Pavilion Theatre. Tickets are available at the Kamloops Live box office and online.
