This is some breaking news!

  • Fireside Sessions takes over downtown Kelowna

Fireside Sessions kicked off its fifth year today, once again bringing Kelowna out of its winter slump.

The annual festival is adored by locals and creatives alike for its focus on independent music and art from creators across the Okanagan and B.C.

What once started out as a small house concert, has since turned into an event looked forward to by Kelownians all winter, as it offers an environment that makes you feel like you’re listening to your favourite records next to the fire.

This year's event may mark the biggest year for the festival yet, as it has expanded from its usual one-day, jam-packed event at BNA to include a second day of acoustic music at Bean Scene on Bernard Avenue..

While sipping on lattes, attendees can sit in the upper level of the local cafe enjoying the sweet sounds from local musicians like Garret Scatterty until 3:45 p.m., surrounded by retro, cozy decor and great company.

In addition, to live music, you can look forward to seeing stunning local art from many mediums throughout both locations.

Once the sun goes down on Saturday, things amp up with local hip-hop acts and DJs at BNA, and the best part is you can still snag a ticket to the party at the door this evening if you’re lucky.

Sunday will offer the same great atmosphere all day long at BNA, with acts like Under The Rocks, Tiger Moon, I M U R, Joshua Smith and Windmills. Tickets for the perfect Sunday afternoon will also be available at the door in limited quantities.

If you’re an avid supporter of local art, music and events, then Fireside Sessions is the place for you to be in downtown Kelowna this weekend.
