(UPDATE: July 10, 5:20 p.m.) – The Harding Creek Fire northwest of West Kelowna is now considered to be held – meaning it has been sufficiently suppressed and is not likely to spread. 

Firefighters returned Tuesday to mop-up any smouldering areas of the fire which they determined was caused by lightning.

(UPDATE: 5:53 p.m.) – The fire burning 15-kilometres northwest of West Kelowna has been retitled from Jackpine Lake fire to Harding Creek fire to better reflect the geographic location. 

BC Wildfire confirmed that six crew personnel and two units of heavy equipment are on site with the air tanker completing their preventative actions as they have deemed sufficient at this time. 

The fire is not currently threatening any homes or structures from where it is taking place, near an old Forest Service Road, and remains at approximately one-hectare in size. 

(Original Story: 3:29 p.m.) – BC Wildfire is currently responding to a small wildfire approximately 15-kilometres northwest of West Kelowna.

Ground crews and air support are on scene fighting the one-hectare fire burning near Jackpine Lake, reports BC Wildfire.
