  • Fire sparks near Hwy 97 west of Kelowna

    BC Wildfire Service has confirmed that a small new fire has sparked west of Kelowna near Pennask Creek Park north of Highway 97C.

    The fire is currently being referred to as the Windy Lake wildfire.

    The fire is currently measured at 0.6 hectares and is being actioned by six personnel, three helicopters and air tankers.

    Although it is not expected to grow, it is exhibiting rank 3 fire behaviour which is a more "vigorous" surface fire, explains Brenna Ward, Fire Information Officer with the Kamloops Fire Centre.

    No values are threatened at this time.
