(UPDATE: July 24 @ 10:00 p.m.) – The Postill Lake fire, which sparked up Monday afternoon, is now considered under control at 0.01 hectares.

Three firefighters were on site today ensuring that the fire did not grow and are anticipating no further growth of the fire.

Fire Origin and Cause remain on scene working to determine the cause of the ignition.

(UPDATE: 5:15 p.m.) – The Kelowna International Airport is reminding travellers that despite the fire to the north of the airport, in the Postill Lake Area, they are still in service.

(Original Story: 4 p.m.) – BC Wildfire Service (BCWFS) confirmed a fire has sparked between Lake Country and Kelowna Monday afternoon. 

Nicole Bonnett, Fire Information Officer for the Kamloops Fire Centre, says that BCWFS is responding to a fire which sparked southwest of Lake Country and north of Kelowna International Airport (YLW) in the Postill Lake area.

Seven personnel are currently on the scene attempting to suppress the fire, with helicopters and one piece of heavy equipment, a water tender, to support the ground forces.

Air tankers were dispatched to suppress the fire but have completed their actions.
