  • Evacuation orders downgraded for Dunn Lake, McCarthy Lake, Hallamore Lake

The Thompson Nicola Regional District has rescinded more evacuation orders today, replacing them with evacuation alerts.

Orders have been rescinded in Hallamore Lake and  McCarthy Lake. Evacuation orders issued on July 11th and July 7th for Dunn Lake have also been lifted as of Tuesday at 10 am.

These areas remain on alert and orders may be reissued if the situation changes and residents should be prepared to leave with limited notice.

Residents can also check the status of their property using the TNRD’s interactive map.

An access restriction has been put in place by the BC Wildfire Service around the Dunn Lake wildfire and an area restriction around Thuya Creek remains in effect. A map of the Dunn Lake area restriction is here.

The order means no one apart from authorized personnel may enter these areas at any time. It applies to all Crown land within the boundaries of the restriction. Individuals who own or lease property within the boundaries are able to access their property via the shortest route if evacuation orders are rescinded.
