An employee at a Walmart in BC has tested positive for the coronavirus, officials confirmed today. 

“An associate from our South Surrey Walmart has tested positive for COVID-19,” a spokesperson for Walmart Canada told NowMedia in an email statement. “We are keeping the associate in our thoughts and wish them a speedy recovery.”

According to Walmart, the employee last worked at the store on April 16.

Out of an abundance of caution, employees identified as being in close prolonged contact have been directed to self-isolate. 

“We have regular enhanced cleaning in the store and other social distancing measures in place. We’ve contacted local public health,” said the company.

“Rest assured, we will continue to take measures necessary to ensure the well-being of our customers and associates.”
