The Vancouver Canucks are hot and it’s largely because of the recent play of the team’s top line.
Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser and JT Miller have been hot and it’s resulted in Pettersson being named the NHL’s first star of the week.
Pettersson had three goals and six assists in just four games last week, helping the Canucks pick up seven of a possible eight points.
That included an unbelievable goal against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday where Pettersson batted the puck in like a baseball player.
After his recent surge, the Canucks’ Swedish superstar is now sixth in the NHL in points and he’s in some pretty elite company.
He’s also helped Vancouver get out to its strongest start in years, as the Canucks are third place in the Western Conference, one point back of the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues with a game in hand on each.
After a three game road trip to California, the Canucks return home to host the Blues on Tuesday with a chance to leapfrog the defending Stanley Cup champions in the standings.
