If you’ve seen Deadpool 2 and are one of the few who didn’t like it, at least know that it had a very positive impact on British Columbia’s economy.
The film invested heavily in B.C. over 80 days of filming last summer and fall.
“British Columbia is home to Deadpool, and continues to be a key filming destination that provides us access to exceptional talent, crews and locations,” said Joe Hartwick, president of physical production at Twentieth Century Fox.
“We appreciate how supportive the government is of our industry and thank the amazing residents of Vancouver and the surrounding areas for welcoming Deadpool 2 into their communities.”
According to data from Twentieth Century Fox, the production hired more than 3,700 talented local cast, crew and extras to make the magic happen.

Not only were thousands of jobs created, but millions of dollars were poured back into the B.C. economy while filming as well.
That includes:
- Over $2 million on construction supplies.
- Over $2 million on transportation and car rentals.
- Over $1.4 million on catering and craft services.
- Over $1.4 million on hotels.
- Nearly $900,000 on local wardrobe and dry cleaning.
- Over $500,000 on gasoline.
Not only that, but the film also puts a showcase on iconic locations across the province in Vancouver, Coquitlam, Stanley Park, Victoria and more.
“The Deadpool movies helped put Vancouver on the map as a premier destination for film production,” said Gregor Robertson, mayor of Vancouver.
“Vancouver has the strongest economy of any Canadian city and our high-growth creative industries are providing a major boost to other local businesses and our world-class talent.”
The film, starring Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds, had a massive opening weekend at the box office, bringing in USD $125 million.
