The collision was between a commercial tractor-trailer, registered in Ontario, and a rental SUV from Alberta.

The trailer, being hauled by a commercial semi, was heading westbound when it crossed the solid double line and made its way into the eastbound lanes.

The eastbound SUV, being driven by a 33-year-old Colorado man, collided with the trailer.

BC Ambulance transported the man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while his two passengers were not injured.

The 52-year-old driver of the semi, who is from Quebec, was charged with failing to keep right.

At the time of the crash, the roads had compact snow and there were slippery sections.

The highway was closed for under two hours following the crash, with a detour through Revelstoke.
