Councillor Jason Firesen has put his name forward for a seat on West Kelowna City Council ahead of next month’s election.

Since he was elected in 2018, Frisen, who has a background in finance and development, says he has “gained a deep understanding of this burgeoning municipality’s complex challenges.”

Friesen’s campaign slogan, “moving West Kelowna forward,” focuses on major capital projects and other initiatives that will help manage the city’s growth.

“It’s time to see through the big projects and planning that have come from the work of this last four years,” explains Friesen.

Some of Friesen’s priorities include providing leadership as large infrastructure projects are completed such as the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, city hall, the future public works yard and the new fire hall.

He would also like to ensure residents’ input and vision are met as the Official Community Plan, Transportation Master Plan and other growth strategies for West Kelowna are met.

Friesen says he will be focusing on public safety, economic opportunities for the city and residents as well as enriching the lifestyle for people who call West Kelowna home.

“I believe that as a West Kelowna city councillor, it is our job to overcome growth challenges while preserving the best things about our community,” states Friesen.

“Let’s keep moving forward together and shape a safe community with opportunities for everyone to thrive."
