There are plenty of choices for registered voters to make when it comes to choosing six councillors on Penticton Council heading into Saturday’s municipal election.

NowMedia reached out to all 24 candidates running to claim one of the six spots on Penticton Council. Several of the candidates did not respond, but the majority did.

We asked all candidates the same questions.

We’ve decided to post their answers in alphabetical order.

Following is the response from Darryl Clarke.

What do you feel is the most pressing issue facing the City of Penticton should you be elected to Council after the Oct. 20 general election?

“Community safety law enforcement, crime addiction and homelessness.”

What do you feel are your greatest assets as someone running for elected office?

“I recently retired from a successful career in business and I believe my strongest assets if elected to Council would be my business experience and strategic planning.”

Can you please list some of the priorities you believe the new Council should make a priority in the first six months following the election.

“Public safety, crime addiction and homelessness.”  

What is, in your opinion, the best thing about calling Penticton home?

“Over the next four years depending on new leadership, I hope our crime level diminishes we can create more sustainable business, fix the housing issues for our vulnerable sector and deal with the addiction issues that have plagued us. It truly seem these issues have not been addressed properly over the last four years and I truly hope we have a strong Mayor and Council to push back and get us on the right track once again. I moved to Penticton 20 years ago because of its beautiful landscape small town feel and the wonderful people here. I hope to be able to serve them well if elected.”

What is, in your opinion, the best thing about calling Penticton home?

“The fact that Penticton is large enough that we’re a city, but yet small enough that the majority of people here know each other. We’re not over developed.”
