  • UPDATE: The Coquihalla reopens between Merritt and Hope

(UPDATE: 9 a.m.) – The Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5) has reopened between Merritt and Hope.

According to DriveBC, there is a single lane closure in effect south of exit 256 as BC Hydro restores power, which is causing minor delays.

(Original story: 6:30 a.m.) – An early morning crash has closed the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 3).

The closure is near the Coldwater Interchange, just south of Merritt, and it’s due to a vehicle incident.

All southbound lanes are closed, while only one northbound lane remains open at the time.

Alternate routes are available through Hwy 1 and Hwy 8.

An update from DriveBC is expected before 7 a.m., but there’s currently no estimated time for the road to reopen.

NowMedia will update this story as more information is made available.
