  • Conservation Officer Service frees trapped cougar near Williams Lake

    The BC Conservation Officer Service was in action last night, this time trying to get a cougar out of harm's way near Williams Lake. 

    According to the service, the cougar was unintentionally caught in a trap somewhere near the community.  

    Officers located the young female at approximately 7 pm, safely tranquilized it, and released it a short distance away.

    Though it seemed to be alright, officers stayed on scene to ensure the cougar safely recovered from the effects of the tranquilizer. 

    They watched it walk away on its own power a short time later.
