  • Colwood gears up for ‘Eats & Beats Beach Party’

Get ready to take your beach day to the next level as the City of Colwood is gearing up to host their Eats & Beats Beach Party this upcoming Saturday, July 29, from 1 – 8pm.

This free community event will include live music all day with an international food truck festival, a craft beverage garden, a street market, a climbing wall, paddling, cycling and more.

Some of the performers you can expect to see throughout the day include:

    • The Zolas (7:30pm)
    • Nautical Disaster (5:30pm)
    • The Projectors (4pm)
    • The Temps (2:30pm)
    • OK Charlie (1pm)

While music and dancing will take over Royal Beach throughout the day, you can also try out a variety of international flavours at the Eats & Beats food festival with more than 15 food vendors to try.

    Some of the vendors include:

    • Deadbeetz
    • Green n' Go
    • Country crepes
    • Big Boi Ice Cream
    • Green on the Street

The event which normally takes place at the Esquimalt lagoon will shift gears to Royal Beach.

Colwood Mayor, Doug Kobayashi, says that this is a part of their plan on shifting events from the lagoon to Royal Beach as they aim to keep the lagoon as a natural jewel.

"As Royal Beach develops it will be the place people want to go for waterfront dining, events and activities, and Council is setting the stage for that shift by not expanding upon activity currently supported at the Lagoon," said Kobayashi. "Our goal is to allow the Lagoon area to continue to be the natural jewel while providing an incredible experience for visitors passing through on a multi-use pathway along the waterfront to Royal Beach."

Three free Eats & Beats Shuttles will run all day to the event at Royal Beach. There will be one shuttle stop at Royal Bay Secondary School and one in the parking area below the new Quality Foods Royal Bay. You will also be able to jump on a Beach Bus running between Royal Beach Park and Metchosin Road any time, all day.
