Over 120 local ladies gathered at Black Mountain Golf Club on Monday afternoon to participate in the sold-out, second annual Chicks with Sticks Tournament.

The ladies-only event welcomed women from Kamloops to Osoyoos to come out and enjoy a day of sunshine, golf and camaraderie – all the while raising funds for community organizations.

In its inaugural year, the event was able to shatter expectations and raise $15,000 for the KGH’s Neonatal Unit.

This year, organizers are hoping to hit the big $20,000. By tee off, the event had already raised $12,000, with more to come via the amazing prizes that are set to be auctioned off later today.

All of the funds raised from the 2018 event will go to Foundry Kelowna and it’s latest project the Mobile Foundry: a motorized transportation unit that will travel around the city making itself available for youth who aren’t able to make their way to the main location on Kirschner Road.

“The swell of support for mental health promotion is having a big effect on all of us and having 120 golfers come out and [create] a community of support for us has been incredible,” said Shari Slattery, Fund Development Manager with the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Not only are participants being treated to a sunshine-filled day on the links, but various holes also include fun activities like a hole-in-one competition along with tasty treats.
