All evacuation orders and alerts connected to Okanagan wildfires have been rescinded, which comes with some extra good news.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre is no longer activated and operational.

However, it remains on standby in case things change and is ready for reactivation should another emergency require support.

This doesn’t mean the fires are out, as BC Wildfire Service continues to manage the active fires throughout the region.

However, no more growth is expected on any of the wildfires, including Mount Eneas (1,793 ha), Goode’s Creek (577 ha) and Law Creek (15.5 ha).

The threat of fire does remain extremely high with hot and dry weather in the forecast for at least a few more days.

A regional campfire ban takes effect at noon today, prohibiting campfires throughout the Central Okanagan.

If you see smoke from a wildfire, report it at *5555 from a cell phone or by calling 1-800-663-555.

Only call 911 if you believe there’s a threat to life.
