Many Canadians who have bought U.S. Powerball tickets online will be holding their breath on Wednesday.

On May 4, they will draw for $437 million, but according to ticket website, The Lotter, the U.S. Powerball could roll over and once again break through the $1 billion ceiling.

So far tens of thousands of U.S. Powerball tickets have been sold to Canadians online.

The website's latest big Powerball winner, who won $1.25 million, was from Quebec.

In the past, Canadians would try their luck at winning hundreds of millions by crossing the border and buying a ticket in the United States. Now, the online craze has swept the nation.

Online sales reached an all-time high in January 2016, when the U.S. Powerball set a new world jackpot record of $2 billion.

That multi-billion dollar draw garnered so much attention all over the world that countless Canadians have since been going online every week to buy overseas lotto tickets.

The most popular foreign lottery for Canadians remains the U.S. Powerball, which will likely be adjusted leading up to Wednesday night’s draw if ticket sales continue to increase.
