Canadians are well known for using their please and thank you's.

However, now a Canadian company is focusing the politeness test on the U.S.A.

FreshBooks, a Toronto-based company that specializes in accounting services, has ranked the 50 US states in order of politeness.

How do you rank politeness? 

In order to determine these rankings, the company analyzed customer data to uncover in what states businesses are most likely to use ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ for their invoices.

A states score is based on what percentage of invoices used both a 'please' and a 'thank you':

According to FreshBooks, Oklahoma and its resident Oklahomians, are by far the most polite people in America, scoring 22% higher on the politeness chart than the next closest state.

Apparently, that West Coast Canadian politeness isn't rubbing off on our neighbours to the south in Washington State, where only 10% of invoices had both a please and a thank you.

The least polite state? That unpleasant distinction goes to Tennessee, despite being the 'volunteer' state.
