  • Canada’s COVID-19 benefit show raised $6M for Food Banks Canada

On Sunday night, Canada came together for 90 minutes to watch the Stronger Together benefit show.

Much like similar shows that have aired out of the United States over recent weeks, the fundraiser featured all sorts of Canadian musicians, actors and other personalities.

Viewers were treated to performances from Sam Roberts, Dallas Green, Michael Bublé, Tom Cochrane, Sarah McLachlan, Shania Twain, Alessia Cara, Bryan Adams, Arkells and plenty others.

Chris Hadfield, Mike Myers, Justin Bieber, Connor McDavid, Bianca Andreescu, Hayley Wickenheiser, Howie Mandel, the cast of Schitt’s Creek and plenty others chimed in with messages from their own homes.

At the end of the evening, a whole group of the musicians that were a part of the show sang a beautiful version of Bill Wither’s ‘Lean On Me’ together.

The whole theme of the night was thanking our frontline healthcare workers across the country and raising money for Food Banks Canada.

In total, $6 million has been raised for Food Banks Canada and people are encouraged to donate online or by texting COVID to 30333 over the next 30 days.

Stronger Together is now the most-watched non-sports Canadian broadcast and record and if you were one of the few that missed it, you can still rewatch it on Crave, CBC Gem or GlobalTV.ca.
