The Buena Vista Social Club took the world by storm in 1997 after a group of veteran Cuban musicians revived the Havana sound of a bygone era.
The record became a surprise smash. And it led to these older musicians touring the world and getting a documentary about them from director Wim Wenders.
The Buena Vista Social club not only started a Cuban Music craze, they rekindled the appreciation for Latin music in general.
Pablo Cardenas — a Cuban-born bandleader who's called Victoria home for a decade — will be playing the songs from all the club’s many recordings.
A Night to Buena Vista Social Club takes place August 12th at The Victoria Event Centre. Tickets can be found here.
